ROOT CMC is a highly effective non-ionic surfactant that helps reduce the pH of water and soil and significantly lowers water surface tension. Reduced surface tension increases the contact area between spray formulations and leaf surfaces, improves wetting, and enhances the uptake and performance of fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides. Because the waxy and leathery leaves of many plants have a thick, oily cuticular layer, water tends to bead up and run off rather than remain on the leaf surface. Consequently, fertilizers and plant protection products may not remain sufficiently on the foliage.

This often leads to the use of higher quantities of fertilizers and pesticides in orchards and fields, which can increase production costs and potentially raise residue and phytotoxicity concerns in agricultural products. ROOT CMC contains ethoxylated alcohol compounds with strong wetting properties, combined with a metal-containing core. By reducing the surface tension of the spray solution and adhering to the active formulation, ROOT CMC plays an important role in improving the retention, wetting, and foliar uptake of fertilizers and plant protection products.
