Lignosulfonate-Chelated Iron with Stability up to pH=10 Iron has a strong tendency to react with various ligands, making its movement difficult from basal soil zones (outside the rhizosphere) to the active absorption sites of root hairs. As a result, iron is often fixed in the soil before being absorbed by plant roots. This issue is particularly severe in calcareous soils of arid and semi-arid regions, where iron solubility decreases significantly at high pH levels. The presence of lignosulfonate ligand in the HIERRO formulation, together with EDDHA and EDDHSA chelates, facilitates iron solubility, mobility, and transport to the active root absorption zone. Therefore, HIERRO is highly effective in correcting iron chlorosis caused by calcareous soils. Iron is a structural component of the porphyrin molecule found in cytochromes and heme compounds (hematin and leghemoglobin) and plays a vital role in the oxidation-reduction reactions involved in respiration and photosynthesis. Due to its variable electrochemical potential, iron participates in numerous redox and enzymatic reactions, including chlorophyll synthesis, respiration, and photosynthesis. In fact, more than 75% of the iron within plant cells is associated with chloroplast functions. HIERRO also plays an important role in activating the nitrogenase enzyme, which is essential for the biological fixation of atmospheric nitrogen by leguminous plants. Special Characteristics:
