Since the amount of sulfur required for proper growth of agricultural crops is relatively high, this element is classified as a secondary macronutrient. Its required amount for plants is roughly equal to that of phosphorus. The predominant form of sulfur uptake in plants is sulphate (SO₄²⁻). Hence, BRIMSTONE 95, containing 95% sulfate, is a highly effective compound for supplying the sulfur needed by plants—especially in Brassicaceae (cabbage) and Leguminosae.

BRIMSTONE 95 promotes the synthesis of essential sulfur-containing amino acids such as cysteine, methionine, and others. By maintaining a balance between nitrogen and sulfur, it prevents nitrate accumulation in vegetables and eliminates the resulting decline in crop quality. In addition, BRIMSTONE 95, through its direct involvement in the synthesis and oxidation of fatty acids, significantly enhances oil quality in oilseed crops such as canola and sunflower.

Nodule formation on the roots of legumes—which plays a vital role in biological nitrogen fixation and reduces the need for nitrogen fertilizers—is improved due to BRIMSTONE 95’s role in the production of ferredoxin. BRIMSTONE 95 also enhances the taste, flavor, and marketability of crops in the mustard and onion families, while greatly increasing pest resistance.
